Manana presents the new remix EP from the inspired collaboration between the UK's Sound Species and Ache Meyi, based in Santiago de Cuba. Originally recorded in 2016 in the lead up to the Manana festival in Santiago, the sessions now receive quality re-works from some familiar names in clubland. Broken beat don IG Culture keeps the roots of 'Ogun Meyi Meyi' intact with a bass-heavy, percussive attack; brilliant drummer and producer Tom Skinner strips back 'Egrem Bata Jam' for a pulsing new version; Chicago legend Ron Trent creates a more melodic dancefloor re-work of 'Alina's Calypso' while Sound Species themselves beef up the original Afro-Haitian rhythms of the same track on a dubbier treatment. Another essential EP from the Manana team.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
